My Uncle had a yellow wooden threshing machine. I know this is not much of a clue, however does anyone have an idea which company made such a thresher.

Yes, Avery Yellow Fellow is the name of it. We have one at our show, and it is the big one, it has a 36 in. wide cylinder and use it every year.

"AVERY" would be a good bet.


The company's nickname for the yellow wooden threshing machines was "Yellow Fellow"!

Nice pictures of an era that has changed. When I was a teen back in 1940's our neighbor had a threshing machine and used a 15-30 McCormick Deering tractor for the belt work. I would follow that from farm to farm as he did custom threshing too. They paid good for that period of time and fed you like a king. They were always needing extra help. In 1949 or 1950 we were threshing at the last farm for the season and blowing the straw into the barn's straw mow. Some of that straw hit the light bulb in the barn and started a fire. The owner of the thresher always fed it and jumped to the ground and tried to pull the thresher from the fire. The 15-30 had solid rubber tires and didn't have much traction and the thresher was lost. There wasn't many dry eyes around there. Hal
