of all the older nh balers (s68, 268, 269) the 270/271 had the best feeding system. i had a 270 for many years. 271 is the same baler with a longer tongue so the tractor doesn't have to run so close to the windrow. the baler is short coupled, balanced on the tires, and the plate that the tongue swings on had broken loose on mine probably from the plunger's rocking. look for the condition of the bale case and usual wear points (plunger, pto joints, etc). its a early/mid 60s model.
