It's in the clutch lift.In the last couple of years I've had problems with won't come up,it won't go down,it goes up and down as you go out the row,you name it.The problem has been the clutch every time. We've taken it apart and there is a couple of dogs in there that get wore down.Do a little welding and grinding then it works right for awhile. It's maddening when your halfway done planting.I want to get the hydraulic lift irons .Like finding hens teeth.

I think the planter has to be moving for it to go down if I remember right. If the planter is dropped while standing still the shoes can get jambed full of dirt. Jim

First question is it a clutch lift or hydrolic lift? Could be either. Up or down now?

Originally they didn't come with hydraulics. It was a kit that was introduced years after the first 290 was built.

Has anyone ever seen the brackets for the hydraulic lift? I have the parts manual for those planters and I've seen a picture of them. I was going to try and fabricate the necessary brackets but I didn't know the size and how they mounted.
