Was wondering how much HP was needed for a Sudenga 10x60 grain auger with a low profile hopper with 2 smaller augers in it.

I usually have a JD 2130 but the old fordson major(47hp) does it sometimes with no problem . It takes nothing , A gas motor could probably do it ?

I used to run an 8"X60' without a hopper with a Farmall H. The H is rated at 26 horsepower on the pto. Your 10" with the hopper will take a bit more power, but I think any tractor in the 40 to 50 HP range will still do it. I still see bunches of Farmall Ms doing auger duty around here, and the M was rated at 36 HP from the factory.

Guy I worked for several years ago had a Case 930 or the IH 806 on an auger about that size. Reminds me of something else I saw, again several years ago. Large farm just west of Faribault, MN. Grain auger about that size unloading corn into the holding bin. Big Case IH 4 wheel drive on the auger. My only thought was "that guys got way to much money".

Routinely run a 10x75 or 90 with a JD 2020 but with the standard hopper. We also have a 2955 we use on augers and I would think it would run one like yours with no problem. Is the hopper hydraulic drive? That would make a difference.

I have run one that size with my 560 IH and a 880 Oliver with plenty to spare.

depends on a lot of things angle wet dry crop wet corn will take more power than dry how steep it is will change the power too. so if your going to a 30ft heightand wet corn 60-70 hp dry corn at the same height 40-50 will probably run it if you wind it up and start slow till you reach the full auger point.
