In your area which diesel pickup has the best resale value...Chevrolet Duramax, Dodge cummins, or the Ford power stroke? Being all 1/2 or 3/4 ton sizes, with the same equipment. same mileage, tire wear, all comparable with one another. I know there is alot of various things to consider, like mileage, color, and such, but I am looking at the resale value right now.

Here in Iowa at the car dealership I now work for we buy dodge and ford diesels. The ONLY reason we buy them is they are a lot less money than the chevy units.

s iowa, Here in Central Texas..... It is a dead heat-tie, Ford/Dodge first/second, then Chevy a distant 3rd. I personally do not have a single friend or neighbor with a New GM Diesel. I do know of 2 old 6.5 GMs, but no new. Later,

Guys, You ask about resale check this..... I needed to mention, Here in Central-Texas, clean Low to Mid mileage, early 03,last of the 7.3 Dsl, F350, Crewcab, 4x4 will bring $25K to $28K all day long!

Around here, if you want a diesel truck, and you want a Cummins, you're going to shell for it. IF it doesn't have to be Cummins but 'anything will do', then you can get a Chev or Ford for less.
Believe me, when they start getting into that well used market, Dodge is about the only one that draws ANY price. The rest are just trucks.
The only reason to buy a Dodge is for the Cummins engine, but that's a big reason. The other two trucks are just as common only then need an engine. That's how I see it, and a lot more around here too....

I went to Kelly blue book and put in the same equipment on each pickup in one certain year and I guess I got my answer. The Chev duramax came in first, Ford, and then Dodge. There appears to be about $4000. between the Chev and Ford, and Dodge was $2500 below the Ford.That is quit a difference, and I dont know why. It might be as John said "Dealer back up" Now different models and years would make a lot of difference in the price, but in 1 given year with the diesel,3/4 ton, with all the same equipment, tire rating the same, that is what came up. Your input is still needed, and appreciated. I know you probably do not agree but that is what Kelly say.

I won't aruge with your numbers but I think there is more to the story. I don't know about current prices but as of a few years ago I think the Dodge could be bought for quite a bit less new so of course the would cost less used. The other thing about Dodge is that they have sold well over a million trucks with the 5.9 Cummins engine since '89 so there are a ton of them on the market. Chevy on the other hand just released the Duramax in '01 (correct me if I am wrong there) so there aren't nearly as many used Duramax's on the market which helps to keep their prices up. When I bought my '99 Dodge in early '05 at the time I figured it was a solid $10,000 cheaper than what a Duramax would have cost and a little cheaper than a Ford.

A lot of the reasoning would have to be dealer support. Around here it would be Chevy by a mile. Ford/Dodge dealer will take a month and $1,000. to change a valve stem cap. God help you if you have bigger problems.
