i am gonna get an AC 50{i think} forage harvester, and it needs a new belt to feed into the chopper. would this be the "cut-and-throw" style? what does the cut & throw mean? any ideas on where to get an owners manual? thanks for your help.

guys, i also noticed on mine there is not a reel. and the belt that needs replaced is the main belt off the reel that feeds the stuff into the chopper. any ideas on dimensions for the reel to make my own or other help. this is my first forage harvester purchase. am looking to cut about 10 acres.

First off you will have to determine what head it has on it. Most of the posters on here would think of a windrow pickup type head that has no nead for a real. Then there is the cutter bar type head for mowing and chopping at the same time and that head you would only use if you were cutting 1 load to direct feed to cattle every day and that head would need the real. then there was the corn heads also. I suspect you are looking at a windrow pickup machine and a picture of a direct cut machine and getting yourself confused.

AGCO can get you that belt.

Like Don says, the cut-n-throw does 'er all with just the cylinder instead of having a separate blower to shoove the crop up the spout.

Get some ear plugs. You can easily hear those old rascals bellerin' 5 miles away. :>)

Cut & throw means the knives also throw the feed into the wagon. Most flail choppers (green feed choppers) are this way. They're ussually a bit louder than normal harvesters that cut it then it feeds inot a separate blower housing to blow it into the wagon.

You maybe SOL on parts, not too many of those around, as they weren't as common as the old Fox harvesters and definately not as common as Gehl was. Some parts you may have to make yourself or by a machine shop, and if it's a v-belt you're looing for you may be better off finding a rubber belt/hosing distributor that can order one given the proper measurements.

I did a quick search on ebay and found one store on ebay that has both a parts and operators manual for that model cheap. I posted the picture from their listing.

Good luck
