Woods RM59 Throws Belt

I have A Woods RM59 Finish Mower on the rear of a Ford 8N.The problem is it constantly throws a the belt off when i throttle up.I downloaded the belt configuration from the Woods site,but i must not have something right.Possibly belt tension too loose/tight.

How old is the belt? When they get worn they want to twist and come off, all you can do is replace them.

Tom: Just curious how ragged the belt has to get? I thought my belt looked bad two years ago, thus I bought a new one to have on hand. Now bear in mind, mine is a Woods belly mower on a Super A, may make a bit of difference.

My belt is still going, looks worse than it did two years ago, but it's never jumped off the pullies. I was very particular about pulley alignment, and I think right there is the secret to belt life.

I don't know a good way to tell until they start jumping off for no reason. Ragged doesn't seem as important as being worn too narrow so they twist and climb out of the groove. It (the twisting part) probably does have a lot to do with the pulley alignment.

Check to be sure that the pulleys are lined up correctly with each other. I had a belly mount Woods that kept throwing a belt. I moved one pulley maybe 1/8 of an inch and it seemed to fix it. Hope this helps.

Between some of the pulleys you must do a 180 on the belt and I think between 2 more pulleys you even have to do a 360 on the belt. I was surprised to see all the twists and turns on my belt when I took the cover off to look at them. I have only had mine long enough to put about 2 hours on it, but have not had any trouble with it. I hope you have a good picture of how the belt is supposed to be put on. B. Jones
