Start by drawing a diagram and loggong the order of all the components on the shaft to be able to get them back in the proper order, especially the shims. take out al lthe cotter keys and square keys.take off the needle lift link at the knotter shaft and the round shield to be able to pull on the cast arm that is bolted to the shaft. You may have to slide the shaft both ways to get the key out of the tucker finger trip arm. Anyway, you may need to emery cloth the shaft and file the key slots and cotter key holes so all the stuff slides. only move the shaft enough to get the gear and knotter off.Youll be lucky if you only have to get the outside one off. The key is to make sure there is minimal resistance sliding the shaft and its components. If it begins binding push it back and remove the cause of the binding. Did one out in the hay field yesterday, took about two hours.
