Well I just bought a NH 352 mixer grinder have not picked it up I plan on grinding a little feed to grow out a few feeder pigs I have never been around one of these things what would you all use in the feed I can get all the corn I need for free (clean out corn from the railroad) I know I will need to add some soybean meal what else and what size screen should I use on the corn. Anything you all can tell me about these machines would be a help. Thanks Kip

Go to Amazon.com and pick up a copy of Morrison"s "Feed and Feeding". It"s an older book and will lean more towards using on farm ingredients than newer books.

You Have a nice grinder there,, The nh 352 is similar to the JohnDeeere style ,changing screens is like putting a baby in a cradle , The unloading auger is a little awkward for me , My Dad had a Massey , similar to Arts Way And Knoedler, Best reliable versatile design for Our place ,, Never had much luck with Gehl equipment , If your had a Gehl , You will lose you r religion trying to change and realighn screens ,WARNING ,DO NOT LET ANY GRINDER EVER SIT IN THE RAIN , IT WILL BE SCRAP METAL IN 2 YEARS, Best Wishes , Jim

if corn is free - then use as little soybean meal as possible - maximize your profit

the bigger the pigs the coarser u can have the feed

when our pigs got above 60 lbs or so we used he biger screen (i think like 5/8") we only used the small screen for the littlest ones (maybe 1/4")

the little pigs were supposed to have 16% protein or so thenas they got bigger u could go down to 12% or so - but if we had a lot of cheap corn we could give them just ground corn at heavier weights....
