I've gotta think about it a little bit, but Ive got:

Fox forage blower that needs a new band. Been sitting for 2 years.

NI haybine needs the jackshaft taken out and the ORC needs to be fixed. 30 days.

Fox 3000's hay head needs some welds. 1 year.

Hesston 1014+2 haybine has some sprockets that came loose and wore out the bores and the shaft. Working on it now...

Oliver 1755 diesel w/ bad engine. ~4-5 years.

2 running gears (1 older JD, one electric, both 6 bolt rims) need some attention, then new hayracks built on top of them. 1 year & the other 4 months.

I think that's it for now. I did just get 1 project done that's been sitting for about 2 years. I welded 2 new spikes on our hay spear that I made up 2 years ago from some scrap shafts at work. About 1 3/4" diameter w/ a nice taper on the end to go in the bale. So far it works really good with the round bales we're buying (main reason I got around to it)

I should have the Hesston back together in the next 2 weeks. Plan to tackle the blower next maybe, so we can have 1 on each silo again...

Gotta get around to those running gears too. I wanna tighten up the steering and paint them before building new racks for them.

Just to blazin' hot out right now to work on much in the sun...

new wiring in barn and new wiring under overhang on outside of barn make it easier to check cows. build pen the make getting cows into barn yard. right now they go right from pasture into barnyard. to find out why fuel pump on 730 is leaking. mulch mrs 730"s rock garden the mulch is in back of pickup rocks are in pile. at least they were free i picked most of them up in pasture. fix stairs in barn to hay mow. fix door over stairs in hay mow. put hooks on rolling doors for hay mow. reroute hoses on under seat 333 so i can put side panel back on. get bale feeder welded. cows are hard them and they seem to be cheap built. talk to le roy and see if i can get spocket off of his junk spreader will work on mine.

1. Repair left axle on NH 66 baler so I can make a third crop. (15 days)
2. Put the chain back on same NH 66 baler that drives the screw. (15 days)
3. Repair the skid plate on the New Idea 251 sickle mower. (17 days)
4. Replace stone guard on same sickle mower. (17 days)
5. Replace the right-side chain on the NH 479 haybine. (14 months)
6. Replace the power steering seal on the 1992 Ford F150. (1 year)
7. Rebuild the brakes on the same Ford. (5 years)
It's a real challenge to drive the farm truck these days. Can�t take if off the farm until these repairs are done�
8. Build woven wire fence to contain livestock (continuous need for 7 years).
9. Build new deck on running gear for haying. (2 years).
10. Run electrical in the barn so I can stop using 100 foot extension cords. (4 years)
11. Install light fixtures in barn so I can stop using work lights for general lighting. (4 years)

1. Fell 100 or so pecan trees due to overcrowding in the orchard. Needed it 8 years, in progress.

2. Replace starter ring gear and adjust clutch in 8N. 10+ years

3. Seal roof of carport over grandpa"s Ford 601 tractor. 1.5 years

4. Plant some more fruit trees. 2 years

5. Build pavillion. 6 months

6. Learn how to run harvester. 3 years

7. New firewood racks (for #1). 6 months

8. Put gravel in dirt floor barn and under carport. 2 years

9. Fix sprayer, although I don"t think it will work for our needs anyways. 5 years

10. Reseed what little field we have to something other than Johnson grass. 10+ years

Recent completions include a gate on the driveway, and knocking back some brush and nasty thorny plants.

This is not exactly on topic but I think it is worth sharing. Looking back when I was younger I observed how Pa did things and I said I would never do my work like that: Barn needs doors repaired, gates in poor condition, pumping up tires to get through that day. Now I work for a guy that at one time was making horse hay from 600 A. - two cuttings. There was a day when we were raking and round baling about 3 to 4 small fields where we had to go through gates that required closing the rake. A small pin was lost, so dug around in the tool boxes to find an appropriate screw driver and used a large 1-1/2 in. box wrench to bent and straighten the screw driver for each opening and closing of the rake. About the second or third time the screw driver was bent and straightened with the large wrench, the clouds parted and a voice said, "you are doing it too." Everything I said I would never do, I was doing. There was a tire pumped that morning and would get filled every morning until it would not make it through the day.

Well since I split my time between Dayton and Columbus - I'll make a combined top 10 list.

1) Graduate College (early 2008)

2) Find a new job (in progress)

3) Fix my MF 135 (2004-Present...its a stubborn piece of equipment)

4) Rehabilitate and restore my FB drill (2005-Present held up by a lack of funds and working tractors)

5) Repaint and finish restoring above mentioned 135 with ROPS (late 07 or 2008)

6) Rehablitate Backhoe and regrade the yard along with replacement of the driveway and drainage in the middle field. Fence in the 5 acres the house sits on. (2008 or later..sooner if I win the lottery)

7) Demolish/remove the Old Barn and Silo concrete pads/foundations. (2009)

8) Widen, replace, strenghten or remove culverts. Also, install concrete approaches and sidewalk to barn. (2008 or as soon as backhoe gets fixed)

9) Rebuild Chicken Coop and convert it into a storage shed. (Was supposed to be 2005, now looking like 2008)

10) Relax and sit back and admire the fruits of my labor.

Who says College Students are slackers? ;)

All I need now is some working equipment and a load of cash and my farm will be the best one on the block.

Well I'd say you're ahead of me then. Pretty much all of my projects are ones that have been put on the back burner for a while.

I remembered tonight I still need to change the rear end lube and oil in the over/under unit on our 1855. I've got the filters, the oil, just gotta pick a time. Got some fuel tank fenders I wanna atleast mount, if I don't make them functional right away. I've also gotta fix up our old Oliver #2 rake. A few bad welds, couple things missing, etc etc...

I graduated from Tech School this spring and got my A.D. in machine tool. Been in the trade for over 5 yeras already, started when I was 17 and in high school.

Some other things I just thought of-

Find a place to live off the farm, find a DJ for the wedding, and make some other plans for the wedding. Gonna be a fun time come next May...

Wow. You're ahead of the game on most of it, or at least making plans to get the work done. Me, and probably most of us here are about 3 years behind on things that should be done now!

Thanks Rod, I've been planning these projects for the last two years. I just need the proverbial equipment and cash to do them. In all honesty, after thinking about it, the grain drill ought to be at the bottom of the priority list, but I hate to send it for scrap.

I think the chicken coop rehab project is going to be the most fun behind the tractor - its the last suriving outbuilding on our farm and I wanted to preserve it.

I just wish I could get my Massey fully operational again along with the backhoe I have. I would be able to do so much with those two pieces of equipment its not funny.

1. All 2 tractors need head work and probably overhauls. 2.Painting all equipment. [complete [line] 3. free up arms on both plows and put on new shares and maybe moldboards and extensions to cover . 4. new blades and bearings on 8' disc and fix worn clevis and new blades on 10' kewanee disc. 5.fix rims and tires and or tubes and put on new shovels on 10' jd field cultivator. 6.put new radiator on wd allis and convert to 12 volt negative ground.plus adding power steering to it. 7.measure and put new belt on mounted ford picker andfind fans to put on it. 8.new floor and fix sideboards and paint one box bed wagon and new everything and paint on the other wagon. 9. convert loader over to hydraulic bucket and rig so i can use front mounted hydraulic pump. 10.fix pto on one row pull type new idea #7 . 11.fix header on #72 all crop combine where it was hit headon in wreck and new concaves and rasp bars plus fix places were rusted from weather and sitting out. 12.new bearings in cultipackers and replace broken wheels. 13. new electric motor on elevator 14.move cultivators and planters back to 36" rows. 15.weld jack on hay rake and fix rim. 16.find part for allis #3 sickle bar mower and straighten bar and put on new pitman and rig up hydraulic cylinder. 17.rebuild oliver superior drill boxes and fix grass attatchment adjustment. and paint. 18.repair tractor rims and reload tires with water/anitfreeze solution. 19. new floor in jd model H manure spreader. 20. repair drag.and harrows. 21.fix mixing paddle in feed grinder and replace tires. 22.replace wheels and fix hub and possibly bearings in rotary hoe. 23. fabricate blades for tine weeder. 24, build shop and equipment storeage. 25. fix sprayers and put on new tanks 26.stop making lists that remind me of how little time ,money and energery i have !!lol

Lets see hmm..

1. New motor in my 1466 4wd(half way there all ready as I have the old one out)

2. Rebuild motor on customers IH 806
3. Put new cutter head in customers Gehl 860 chopper

4. Rebuild MFWD axle on customers Ford 7710

5. Finnish painting my Massey 1130

6. Fix stalls in Cows stable

7. Finnish rebuilding doors in snap corn silo

8. Build bigger chicken coop for wife

9. Finnish farm loan paperwork

10. Help neighbor put in new barn cleaner chain

That is the top ten that have to be done before winter. And I also have at least 300 acres of 4th cutting plus corn chopping/snapping and 5th cutting to do before that time as well.

Let see:

Woods belly mower for my allis G needs some welding and hammering, and de-rusting and paint and a lil' TSC and a new belt. ~2.5ys

Ford NAA that needs new upper thrust bearings and a bushing inthe steering box ~ 2 years ( havn't needed it since i got a couple hundred series tractors )

Old ford Disc that needs lotsa TLC ?? ~3ys

Numerous small electrical hand tools that need cords or brushes ~ 1-5 ys

That's the 'most pressing' ones..

I think everything I have needs something done to it. Even the tractors and machinery I am using all needs something. I have a IH manure spreader that has had a broken drive shaft for 10 years. I have 4 tractors needing quite a bit of attention. The house needs a lot of work. The more I think about it the worse it seems things are around here. I don't think I will live long enough to fix everything.

Presently....
finishing up the transmission oil pressure circuit on teh 7710 in the next couple hours.

Nic nacks on the truck that don't bear mentioning in writing, anywhere....

Pickup slip clutch on the baler with new sprocket... but it still works.

3930 with broken rings on one hole, but still working OK...

Combine header that needs new drive shaft.... since last fall.

Build wood conveyor... since 3 years.

Build commercial wood splitter.... since about a year.

Build a shop to actually do some of this work inside...

Don't want to think too hard or my head will start hurting...

Wow,
I'll just hit the big ones.

1. Cutting down a 9 shank subsoiler into a 3 shank. (lots and lots of welding)

2. Finishing my JD 4 bottom semi mount plow.

3. Adding more S-tines on my tree row cultivator.

4. Converting a manual #3 corn grinder to electric.

5. Restoring my great grandpas AC WC

6. Restoring my g.g.pas 2 bottom trip lever plow.

1 thru 4 I need to get completed, 5 and 6 and the other 100 projects will get going someday.

Probably have hundreds around here if I counted. From a 49 Ford pickup I blew the rear axle apart on 15 years ago to sharpening the knives on the chopper. One thing I've learned is I can get more done with a partialy incapacitated tractor than one thats torn apart in the shed. One of the toughest things for me was looking around my dads shop after he passed away and looking at all the unfinished projects.

Amen! I'm trying to build a new pole barn right now, do a small brick patio for my wife, put a sidewalk around the house, but it seems that most of my free time lately has been spent working on other people's stuff. Monday night I fixed my neighbor's lawn mower, tuesday night I mowed my dad's lawn, weed wacked and trimmed his hedges, last night it was instaling a light for a friend of my wife's. I think I'll get to work on my stuff tonight, but there's no gurantee.
