I got the disk off that was lock'n up. Bearing was toast. balls were in the bar. Going to have to take bar apart to fix. Found rest to bar was not in good shape. I paid $800 for this thing 5 years ago. I think I will watch autions this winter, or find a 66 with a busted gear box cheap. Thank you to every one who posted last week.

Dave

If this was a rotary cutterbar, make sure you get every bit of foreign matter from the bearing out of the cutterbar, every piece. If you don't, you will be back into it in 8 hours or less. It has to be perfect.

I'll repeat what Roger said about getting all the steel pieces out of the cutterbar. However, at the price you got it for and the use you got out of it, it dosent't owe you anything and I would junk it or as you said look for one with a bad gearbox. I would look into a new one. The Kuhn is one of the Cadillacs of disc mowers, but I would rather have a cheap new one than a used Cadillac.

I'd rather the used Caddy. A used Caddy, properly maintained will still perform like a Caddy....
