I have a issue. I have a steer that is hard on fences in my most secure area. I problem kies i just had a cow have her first calf and found it a 1/2/ mile away. I got it back to the fence area I would like to secure it in the most secure area with the steer . Might the steer injure the calf is the ?

Y'all may find this hard to believe.... My neighbor was moving and loading up his bull and was heading out. He escaped and we could not get him back in. After he did some body damage to my truck, the owner said " Just shoot him and keep the meat" Not wanting to get too close, he took two .30-06 rounds between the eyes from 75 yards. Both bounce off his head! Took a neck shot to finish him! Meat was tough as nails.

My granpap had one named "Bodomino" that was as mean as they come. He used to carry a .45 auto with him when he went anywhere near it. One day Bodomino cornered and came after him, grandpap shot him between the eyes. This was in the late 60s down in W.Virginia.

My experience has been that the cow won't let the steer get that close to her calf. I have always found the most secure lockup for a problem steer is the freezer in packages marked hamburger.

I even shot a Bull once for staying out to much. I went and gathered him up about 15 times in a one week period. The last time I couldn't catch that joker with nothing but the old Marlin. I got back over 700 pounds of hamburger out of him. Had to buy a new freezer as a month earier a 1200 dollar cow broke the floor out of the portable stocks and flipped it over breaing her neck, sooooo, I cut her into hamburger and roasts as well. When I was a kid, dad wouldn't kill one for beef, as he said they were worth to much money. We ate chickens and hogs.

Never had one that bad. But as a kid we had trouble with the fence shorting out when ever it rained. We had more rain in those days than now. Anyway about once a week all the steers would get out. I got tired of running to round them up so I'd get out my motorcycle and chase them a while till they got tired then they would go in. Eventually they learned when they heard the motorcycle start they better go in. After a while we finally found the short and boy did they get a surprise. Being a kid I was a little disapointed as I thought it was fun chasing them. I don't think so anymore.
