Hi Guys, I was trying to hook up a shaver post driver to my Oliver 1365 to the auxiliary hyd. pump (mounted above the pto). I plumbed a T into the return line for the pump and hooked the return line for the driver there. I then hooked the pressure line to the driver. I filled it all with fluid but no luck - I have no pressure. I also tried hooking one of my remote hydraulic lines to the pressure line on the driver but it didn't lift the cylinder. Tried the valve on the driver both ways. One way shot oil out the return line like expected but the other way did nothing. Any ideas?

This is not a complicated system. It requires a constant supply of pressure oil as from a remote coupler plumbed to the 'in' port of the valve. Your tractor is open center and the valve shipped with your HD 10 is set up for open center from the factory. A 'zero pressure return' is required. this means not 'teeing' into any lines, but porting the large yellow hose from the 'out' port directly to the hydraulic reservoir on your tractor. If you choose to use hydraulic couplers on this hose, use ones that have high flow rates. I put together an HD 10 this spring and had zero troubles by following the instructions to the letter. Shaver has been building these units for more than 25 years with very, very few changes. This is not their first big bus ride.

I'm no expert on this machine, but I bought one last fall and put it together myself, completely. I had plenty of problems too. To get your machine, or any machine working, you have to have hydualic fluid circulating thru the post driver at all times. I don't know how you do this on an Oliver tractor, tho. Probably have to put the lever on the tractor that controls the remote cylinder in the "open" position, as tho you were raising a cylinder on any machine. Hope this helps. I even called the factory and talked to someone on the shop floor about how to get it going.

The return line has to dump right into the reservoir.

Did you get a manual with the pounder? Check what it says.

Also did you release the latch on the slides?
