I have an NH 850 baler that has a leaking hydraulic cylinder. It was just weeping a little last year, however when I drug it out this year it started a pretty good stream. I have the cylinder off, and o-rings, and a wiper seal for it, however so far I have been unable to get it apart. Do I just pull the set screw out of the side, and pull the wiper seal? Then the retaining ring? Thanks in advance for help.

I think that is the style that you remove the set screw completely and take a flat punch and gently tap the gland "that holds the wiper" down in the cyl to expose a snap ring. Remove the snap ring and pull the shaft, piston and gland out of the cyl.

Thanks mur. That helped me out. Pretty obvious once you push the gland down in the sleeve. I was looking for a different type ring setup. Got it all reassembled and ready to put back on the baler now.

Last year I had the same problems with both of the ones on my 850. REBUILD both of them at the same time or you will end up with trouble. I found out the hard way. Send me an e-mail and I'll scan a brake down of the cylinder. Theres a snap ring you have to remove to get it apart and its not an easy one to get out BTDT. Now if your close enough to me I can show you and or help you rebuild what you have since I have BTDT twice last summer
