Fred: What are you wanting use this hitch for? The Worksaver idea works fine for mowers, grader blades, etc., but if you get into some serious in ground tillage tools it requires something much better. I've built several of these hitches, mainly for tractors with 1 point fast hitch and have some decent photos if you wish to send me an e mail. I see yours is open, however I can't attach photos until I have a return e mail from you.

While the 1 point hitch set up will be a bit different, the principles of lift and pull are the same and these photos will give you some ideas. I can also tell you the pitfalls of several hitches I built and the modifications I had to do to make them work well.

For example I currently use a MF-25 disk for testing my hitches. The disk has 24 - 18" blades, too much load both pulling and lifting for everyday use, but the tractor does pull it axle deep in soil and lifts it with some effort. This disk weighs in excess of 800 lbs. I wouldn't hesitate on using a disk with 20 - 18" blades. I have also pulled a 2x12, IH 3 point hitch plow.

I also build hitches for sale, however shipping has become prohibitive for more than 300 miles.

Look up worksaver.com - they have nice diagrams of their units. Could provide you with some valuable ideas on building yours.

Pickup a copy of antique power or farm collector.. leaf thru till you see an add for custom hitches for farmall and jd and orange and yellow tractors.. take a look at what they did.. duplicate it..

That is how I built mine for the M. I looked at an ad for one in a Southern States catalog. I had the arms from a 274 IH and used a 31 spline Ford truck axle for the rockshaft and with a little time and welding it worked fine. I can move large round bales of hay quite easy with it.
