Hello! I was gifted with a nearly perfect scale and platform and need to find some info about it. It is a John Deere Reliance Pitless Scale with a 8'x14' platform and optional livestock gates. The front of the scale box says "Reliance Pitless Scale US Standard John Deere Plow Co Atlanta GA." On the inside of the door to the scale balances it says "The John Deere Brand is a Pledge of Quality." On the scale balance, it says "Reliance Pitless US Standard Mfg By Reliance Co Pleasant Hill MO USA Patented May 8, 1906 Other Patents Pending." The platform is in great shape and the original wood is still in working condition. The livestock panels are 90% condtion with two broken boards. I have contacted John Deere only to find out they did not make the scale and they only sold it in some of their markets and have no info about it. It was made between 1900-1910 according to John Deere. I have been directed to contact the John Deere collectables staff but have gotten no answer. At this point, we are building a building for the scale and will have it reassembled by late summer. I would like to find a good copy of the sales brochure I have seen on the internet or would like to buy one. Is there a resource where I could get a guestimate on value so I can call the insurance co? I have photos if anyone is interested. Thanks!
