Hi All , I bought three #8 plows ( at least I think they are all #8's ) a couple months ago and finally got them home today . I also got 15 shares with them which will only fit on one of the plows . The type of share that has the button in the middle and a lock bolt at the end . Question one - Which bottoms are these and what's the common name ? Here's what I got - I got one clutch lift plow - 3 - 16's , strictly clutch lift , the 15 shares fit this one , I also got 2 or 3 of what he called Montgomery - Wards slip-on shares that fit over these also . One clutch lift 3 - 16's converted to hydraulic lift , the shares I got won't fit this one , it has a three or four bolt attachment like modern shares do , no seperate point or shin . Question two - Which bottom are these and common name ? And the third one is a 4 - 14's with seperate points and shares , srictly hydraulic lift , no clutch hub and the double spring hitch . Same question as before . Question four , and this one has me baffled , On the one hydraulic converted 3 bottom the center beam has CANADA cast into it on the top about in the center from front to back . It also has IH cast on the other beams and everywhere else . What's the story about that ? I'll need a couple of minor parts to make them complete but as they sit they are - aside from needing some tlc and tires - in completely usable condition . They seem to be 99% complete . The clutch lift one needs a lift spring on the furrow axle and a furrow axle adjusting pin latch thingy that engages the slots on the quadrant because the end that is pulled on is broke out and the pull rods are missing , and the four bottom needs the part that holds the hitch hook pivot because the one that's on there is bent and one of the legs is broke . Other than that so far I haven't found anything major wrong with them . If part # off the moldboards will help ID the bottoms I'll get them tomorrow after work . The guy I got the plows from bought all of them brand new and used them till he quit farming about 7 - 9 years ago . Thanks for any info ya'll might have ! Take care ! ...Randy

Randy, those called Montgomery Ward slip on are Silver Streak Plow Share Edges and they were sold by Wards and other companys. Only good for novility at a tractor show display. They take twice the Horspower to pull as a good share. And I think I may have the clutch items you need. Plan to try to get those pictures and video tape this weekend and get them mailed to you. The 3 plows I bought are 2 of them 12" clutch, 1 bottom on both, 1 steel wheel other rubber tire and then a 14" steel wheel clutch lift with no shares. Also got a pair of the replaceable point bottoms that I have yet to find the size on. If you could give me the numbers on your shares it might help me figure out what no. mine should take.

Hi Leroy , Here's a picture of them . I have 3 of them . I didn't get on here last night due to thunderstorms in the area . All I got was a measly 4 tenths of an inch . Four miles southeast they got upwards of 2-1/2" . Oh-well ! I'll look forward to those videos . I'll get those #'s and email you tomorrow night . I have to get some sleep now . Take care ! ...Randy

Thought of something else last night. The button in the middle of the point,on the bottom,is a worn down bolt head. The bolt runs up thru the frog. You have to cut or grind it off to get the point off.

I can answer question one for you. They are plow chief points. The point and the rock share are seperate parts. Both pieces are still available from CaseIH but they are EXPENSIVE.They used to be available aftermarket ,but don't know anymore.I have a set of 311 FH plows that have those bottoms. Some of the aftermaket points didn't always fit real good.I've had to put them on the mill before and mill the back edge off a little. Question #2 sounds like the cast points like in the picture. Hope this helps a little.

Hi , Here's a picture of the shares . Note the bottom share/shares that are blue have the add-on cutting edge , the bottom one shows how it goes on . It turns out there are three styles of share mountings in the point area , That can be seen in the picture I hope . All the shares have " soft center " cast in them . Thanks . ...Randy
