hello everyone. i dragged home a vicon 127 discbine the other day. the guy that had it couldnt keep the bottom roller bearings in it so he parked it about 5 years ago. all the parts for the bottom roller are gone. i was wondering if i took the top roller out if it would mow, and make windrows. or does it need the rollers to throw the hay into the deflectors to make a windrow. also what kind of oil should i be putting into the cutterbar? this is the first experince with a disc mower. thanks
nate

Never used that machine so can't say whether it will make windrows or even run with roller drive out. Crank it up and see if it eill run. On cutter bar, use 80-90 gear oil. DO NOT overfill, that will cause too much pressure and blow seals and probably tear up the cutterbar. Find a manual or check with a dealer about how to check and drain oil. I'm a believer in changing oil in the cutterbar and gearbox each season. Oh, the gearbox uses the same oil. It should be possible to just fill the gear box until the oil runs out the filler plug. Let us know how it works, please.
