IH 2400 BIG BALER

A SMALL PROBLEM WITH THIS BALER. THE SCAPER ON THE PRESS ROLLER BROKE OFF AND GOT ROLLED UP IN ONE OF THE 75 BALES. CHECKED THE LAST 2 NOT THERE.
THE QUESTION IS CAN THIS BALER BE USED WITH OUT THAT SCRAPER? A BUDDY SAID TO ADJUST THE PRESS ROLLER AND GO WITH IT. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT.

WELL GUYS IT DIDN'T WORK. THE HAY JUST ROLLED AROUND THE ROLLER AND STOPED THE BALER. BUT I DO WANT TO THANK TIM IN TX. THE DETECTOR WORKED. FOUND IT IN THE SECOND BALE I LOOKED AT. TO MY SUPRISE IN PERFECT SHAPE. WELDED ON THIS TIME. THANKS FOR THE IDEAS. TOM

I"m with georgeky on this. Try it and see what happens. I have a 241 (the older model of 2400) and would be very interested, so let us know. There are some others on here with or had this baler.. Who knows what condition the scraper will be in after getting rolled up.

Thought about using a metal detector to check the bales? I lost a couple parts off an old Ford swather once...I did not tighten the roller tension hardware properly and it was located under the center of the cutterbar and when the pieces fell off, they ended up under the freshly cut windrow. I went to Home Depot and rented a metal detector and found all the hardware. I was lucky as most parts were no longer available for the machine.

That is a new one on me. I have used a 241 and 2400 since 1980 and never once had that trouble. I don't know what to tell you, but am interested in knowing myself. Try it and see. Let me know if it works. You will find it this winter. I bet new ones are available, but no telling how high they are.
