1034 stackliner routing of rolling rack cable

In my 1034 operators manual it shows the placement of the cable but the drawing is not what i have... did N H have another way the cable is routed ?? maybe it was an (enginering change) that was not put in the book ... someone tried to run the cable but it was not right bent rack cyl. is what they did ... also it shows a tention spring in the book at the end of the cable at a 90`degree to the rack mine dont have the mounting for this.

There are two cables shown in the book. A return cable which is larger and a smaller cable which has the spring on it. I never used the smaller cable, getting the rack to go back isnt a problem. The larger cable is the one to be careful with too, if its the least bit too short it will bend the rod on the rolling rack cylinder.

Twice, in the same day. Cause Im slow....


I put the repaired cylinder, with the $385 new rod in it in and I still had the cable too short..... .....

I'm sitting here chuckling even though that $400 and wasted time is not funny. I guess I was lucky; my wagon is the old 1030, I just bent the rolling rack a couple times. Nothing some time with a torch and cable puller couldn't fix.
