Hydraulic bale tensioners...

I have a couple older New Holland balers and use the standard tensioner on the end of the bale chute to adjust the density of the bale. It seems this year the density of the bales varies much more so than in previous years, which is probably related to the dramatic variation in hay density this summer due to very dry growing conditions around here. I've seen the hydraulic tensioners in the owners manual described, as well as pictures of the units on other balers.

Question: Do the hyrdaulic tensioners give more consistent bale weights when the field conditions very a great deal? What are the advantages of the hydraulic tensioners?

I had been runnig deere units till few yeasrs back when I picked up this New Holland 570 baler that was brand new never used. It was ordered and deliverd to fellow and he died month or so later and unit was never used. Anyway long story short it has all o0ptions on it hyd tension,extended chute etc. In MY USE OF IT THE HYD TENSION IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY IF GOING TO BUY,NO DIFFERENCE JUST MORE TO MAINTAIN. I would not buy another with it. I will also go back to deere units also,much more uniform bales perioed.
