Dang- I was cutting a small peice across the road form us that a church owns, its all just grass and weeds and we plan to chop it for bedding. I was over there with our older smaller 9' NI 290 haybine cutting it (that's our swamp cutter) and when i was going around the outside, the 2 spring loaded drive pins that drive the crimpers and the real decided to go inside the bore they're supposed to come out of and get jammed in there. I drove back across the road and tapped them out, spun it by hand and they did the same thing. I was having problems with them last year on a Sunday so I couldn't get new pins (standard 1/2" dowel) so I stuck it back together with the best of both jackshafts I had, and made it work. Now I'm paying for it. I replaced the springs, and they still work, but both the dowels and the hardened bushings they slide in are worn and need to be replaced.

O-well, the grass isn't too thick, so I should be able to cut it with out 14' hydro-swing tomorrow and with any luck it'll still dry out by Sunday afternoon. Probably won't but atleast it'll be cut. I'll have to fix up the other jackshaft sometime and put that one in there, just so it's ready to roll again if we need it, or next year when we need to cut the swamps again...
