Looking to buy a used sickle mower. My neighbor has two JD450 and swears they are the best. Any opinion on that?

John

allis 80t or 82t or 82 w/3pt. twin wheel drive sickle is slick as, well, you know what! stay away from anything with a pitman arm, wood, steel or otherwise. unless you are pulling it with horses. at tractor speeds it is a self destruction device. unless you have a ford or a 2 cylinder deere, or maybe a farmall cub.

I used a 350 Jd one season. It was a good mower, but I prefer the 1300 Ih or 451 NH.

So, why did you like the 1300 Ih or 451 NH better? What was better?

Thanks

John

I don't know that anything was better or not. Just seemed the IH and NH mowed better in wet grass. I also have parts for those. Didn't have any for the JD and it was like a robbery paying for them at the dealer. I had a old number 5 JD that would cut with any I ever used.
