ditching implement..ideas?

I am trying to build a really solid two track road on the farm. I would like to find an implement that will dig a ditch about 2 feet wide and 4 inches deep. I'd then line that with geo-fabric, pour in the gravel and hope for the best.

Any ideas for an implement to use, or suggestions on how to build the road or experiece with ways to build a 2 track is appreciated.

there is a ditching tool in implents photo adds for sale. i just use a turning plow with the back raised as high as it will go. i break the ditch going two directions and the use a land scaping bucket to form the ditch with. just keep the bucket set down and stay on one side of the ditch until you have formed it. just spread the dirt out up to 30 feet away from the ditch or use it to fill in low places where your going to put the road. finish it off with a little grass seed and your done.

You may be better off to use a backhoe. The bucket would be about the right width and you can put the dirt in a dump trailer or dump truck and
dump it in another area on the farm. Hal

How hard is the ground? This time of year, it's generally like rock...and that means penetration is going to be a problem. BUT, an idea that comes to mind is a rear scoop/pond bucket. You'd be emptying it every five feet or so...that'd soon get old. Why don't you just grade it the best you can and lay down some #4 limestone in two tracks and let it go. By and by they'll settle and build a base and you can add to it every year. If you already have ruts, fill'em up with 4's and later top off with 57's. The alternative is a bulldozer or 100 Roman slaves and deep pockets.

2 ft wide and 4 " deep, sounds like a job for a moldboard plow, if you can find a 2-12 bottom, you could pull it down the lane, then use a loader to haul the dirt away.
