I lent out my baler and it came back with 2 broken neddles. Does any one have a set they wouldlike to sell? I have priced out new and they want a fortune!! I found used and the guy only gave me 50$ off of the new price.

If any one has any ideas let me know I'm open to anything.

Did you get all the of the needles back? If so, my father made a jig for the needles and weilded the broken perts back together. Htis put the needles into the correct curve approx. Using the pattern and carefully heating and bending he was able to duplicate the orginal cure of the needle. Alot of time is involved bending must be done slowly. This was for a JD baler that the Amish were using for baling straw. When my needles broke I justed gritted me teeth and bought new. I also retimed my baler and 700+ latter it has not missed a bale unless some fool forgets the twine. Hope this helps. JW in NH

I have all the parts. I just bought a JD 336 baler and was hoping for a cheap fix. This would then become a back up baler. I would sell it however i could probbly scrape it and get more. I don't want to scrape it because it is in great shape. I forgot to tighten the brake pads before I let the guy use it.
Oh well live and learn.

your deere will have a stop for the plunger (when the needles are in the chamber) to prevent this. however, if you vee out around the shear line, put them in your oven @ 400 for an hour, and weld them with a maintenance stainless rod, (peening the weld very well as you go). you should be ok. then all you will have to do is put them back on and tweak them until they put the twine where the tucker fingers will push it into the disks. good luck! i'd wait till scrap was back up to $250 a ton, and let the chinese make crappy bicycles out of it.
