I would like a photograph of the bracket that holds the bale counter on a NH 270 or 271 so I can try to make one since they are not available for purchase

Do you have the part no.? Or have your dealer
try "The Parts Depot" 1-800-743-3768. They have
a huge warehouse of overstocks,discontinued,etc.
If you have the p/n you can try depotparts.com
to check stock-but must be ordered thru a dlr.
Good luck, Chuck

the only part number I have is very old

38696 from an old parts book for the 270/271 baler

Love to get you one, but when dad bought the baler used back in the '60s, came the next day & someone stole it off - including the bracket. :(

It took me years of scrounging junk yards to find enough counters to put in each of the 3 cab tractors. Handy to keep track of loads, etc. Most balers were already missing them, but the brackets were usually there.
