Seeking input on a multi-row planter for Oliver 1650. Will be doing corn maze next yr. For use of property I will be planting 200 acres of corn for older gent to use for feed.

All my planters are 2 row and I have a 1 row for hunting food plots. Remember now I run old iron like everyone else no high tech GPS enabled devises - just a good reliable planter so I can start figuring costs and how to get it to FLA.

Thanks

If you're going to be planting 200+ acres, I wouldn't even think of using a plated planter. You're best bet is a JD 7000 series machine, they are very accurate and easy to get parts for. For that many acres I'd be thinking six row, and have a monitor. As for the White planters I have heard they were good machines but don't have any personal experience with them.

We pull an old JD 495 A narrowed up to 32" (the tightest we can get without putting smaller seed cans on by the wheels).

We could easily pull a 6 row, but the old 4 row does us well. 6 row planters still have a good demand around here so they still get a good price- even the old 4 row wide planters still fetch a handsome price.

the white air planters were good planters too. 4 row would be good for you.

Here in so Mn. you can buy any 4 or 6 row planter for scrap metel price. Farming has gotten to big for them. You could easy pull a 6 row with the 1650.

just remember it has to match the width of your harvesting device (unless it is 1 row stuff)

Shep, a 7000 JD 4 row is hard to beat, but can bring pretty good money in places. A 56 IH is a good older planter and can be bought for a couple hundred bucks. I have used one of those for years, works great. I don't know about an Oliver. Old AC planters are quite good as well.
