just starting to do my own hay and bought a vermeer 605 B. mowed about 4 acres and got it all raked up for a test run of everything and all went real good till i baled the first bale and could not get it out of the baler. the bale was really good looking but after running with the rear gate up and the pto on it looked like i had run the bale through a grinder. i ended up getting 6 bales, pulled the first three out with the truck and bounced the others out. before the last bale i adjusted the platform belt as it did not look square to the rest of the baler and the bale kicked out after driving about 30 feet. any ideas or suggestions would be helpful since i really dont know what the problem is, seems like a real solid baler, if it would only kick the bale out, thanks

Weld you a disc off a one way in the middle of where the bale is made.

It sounds like the sides are bowed out. Check the outside braces for breaks.

I have a very similar baler - a MF 1440. Same problem. Dry hay is a must, and the sides on mine are a bit rusty, but I could not get bales out with the spear of my smaller John Deere. Had to pull one out with a chain. Someone on here suggested a bale restrictor. It deflects some of the hay from the edges of the bale thus resulting in a bale that will be less dense along the edges. $82 each, and you need two of them. I have not picked them up yet and it is so wet here in East TX that I will not be baling for another month, but I will post how they do. Good luck, and if you find another solution, please share it.

I think Clinton Anderson has a tape on how to do that.

Question?? were the sides rusty, was the hay good and dry. Also turn the PTO off before opening the tail gate. Also are you making the bales too big. Just things to explore.
