Looking for Info on New Idea bar rake

I have a New Idea(I think) bar type hay rake that has no identification on it whatsoever. My neighbor bought it for $50 30 years ago and it didn't have hardly any paint on it then. My guess it is 50-60 years old. There is a little green under the lip of the frame and wheel hub and the wheels are a burnt orange color so I am pretty sure it is New Idea. Would like to know model number or site with info or possibly pics would be great. Also, if there are any other brand rakes that are the same model. It is a 3-point, PTO-to-belt driven 5 bar rake. It has 2 staggered wheels on the back w/ 4.80-8 pneumatic tires mounted on fork type swivels like 3pt. finish mowers have . Hooks very close to tractor and PTO shaft is about 14" long. Has cast spoked discs that the bars hook on and it has 90 teeth. Has J-shaped guards in front made from round bar about 3/4". Would post a pic but rake isn't here right now. Think Agco has any parts for this thing? I use NH teeth. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jeff

Thanks alot for the responses. A seller on ebay has a parts book for a #49 NI Rake and another has a pamplet for a #49 LinkLink

I>Link wonder what the difference would be between a 49 and 42M? Do you guys have trouble with the teeth rubbing on the guards? Seems like it takes very little bending to make them hit. May be caused by the New Holland teeth as I think they are a little bit bigger than the New Idea ones. We've been using it for 30 years and only major problem we've had is the casting that support the discs on the ends. We fabricated a new one for the right side and the left flat one is cracked now but seems to be holding. What type of bearings do the bar ends have? I know the wheels have brass bushings in them and they are still like new -- I just put on a new tire. Is the brochure on ebay correct as far as color scheme goes? Looks like a colorized black and white pic. Did they have any decals? Thanks again, Jeff.

I looked again and I remembered wrong! What I have is indeed a 49M . . . so the parts list will work.

Same rake I have. Model 42M so says the ID plate. Apparently this rake came in 3-point, A-C Snap-Coupler and IH Fast-Hitch versions. I"ve had mine for 10 years and have not had to buy any parts for it other than a drive belt (from NAPA) and the generic rubber mount teeth, which is what mine had been converted to by previous owner. Bearings for the bar ends should be readily available.

I have an old pull type of around 1950's era. Yes orange and green were the colors. I can still get rake teeth for New Idea at the TSC store, checked last week and they still have them on the shelf. My old New Idea is a four bar, ground drive via belt, but works great and does all my raking and turning as well as straw
