I saw another posting on this so part of my question may have been answered, but I'm looking for a replacement set of knives for this old baler. I noticed one of them has a replaceable blade on it, the other dose not (?). If I find replacment blades, how do you initially set them up? Shims or no shims? Any other info on this baler would be helpful too. Recently purchased.

Are you looking for plunger knive or knotter knives. The knotter knives are available from IH new. This is assuming it has all twine knotters as some 47,s do not. Call Brad at 1-888-824-0544, he will send you the parts you need.

As with any baler make sure plunger guides are in good shape then shim knives untill they click when they pass.

John,

You can go to your IH dealer and get the little replacement knives. I would get another knife that hold the little blades to match the other on. If you have a manual for the baler it will give you a setup procedure for the knives. I have a #27 which I believe is the same if you don't have a manual let me know and I'll scan the pages for you. If you are looking for parts numbers to the the IH/Case site>Link
