i own an oliver small square baler and am use to john deere balers. it seems like the oliver wont make as heavy of a bale as the deere would and the tighter i clamp down the handles in the back the more knotter trouble i have. does deere have a better baler, even though most of the parts are the same?

I used an Oliver t-60 for a summer. Sent it packing, now have NH 268. Not looking back. Nothing I could do would get that Oliver to make nice bales and tie them!

I have an Oliver 520, it uses the same knotters as the New Holland. I'm still trying to figure how bale tension effects the knotter on the Oliver, but so far I think just the opposite. Compared to my two NH baler's (S67 and a 68) the 520 makes a much better square bale. With my 68, I have to tweak the tension on the left or right to make a square bale. My NH's also don't like small or light windrows, makes a loose bale. The Oliver doesn't seem to care.

I don't want to go back to my NH's... I'll get the tying thing figured out.

As for how it compares to a Deere, which model?
