I have the oppertunity to buy a NH model 56 rake and a NH model 44 7" sickle bar mower for $600.00 Both are in good working order although the mower looks like it has been stored outside....Is this a good deal for the two or should I keep looking? I also have the oppertunity to buy a NH 271 wire tie baler for $400.00.it works great too..... are all these good buys

Well I went ahead and bought it all. After a new pitman arm and some greese the mower sings along like a sewing machine. I love that sound. The rake needed 24 teeth but all bearing are tight like new and it raked like a new rake. The baler needed some adjustments but i had it making perfect bales quickly. I mowed, raked and baled a trial acre this weekend and got 48 bales of light brome..... ..all in all it went perfect!!..... ..thank you

anytime you can get all the equiptment to bale for 1,000.00 or less i'd say its a good deal IF equiptment is field ready.

Likely all depends on what condition each piece is in. Sickles seem to have generally fallen out of favor, rakes tend to be kinda spendy.

There's a lot to go wrong on an old baler (wear & tear, abuse, neglect, etc).
