I bought this implement because I had never seen one like it, but I don't know what it is or was used for. Any information would be appreciated. Also would like to know age.

Like some of the others said, It's a go devil for cultivating small plants. My dad still has 3 of them.

Much clearer picture Tractor Hank. That is what I know as a Go Devil. I remember my Grandpa using one back in the 50's on corn and cotton. He planted on a lister ridge and used the Go Devil instead of a cultivator to run his middles and maintain the ridges. I bet you had to pay close enough attention to what you were doing that you couldn't watch those mules wink at you. In some parts of the country other impliments were called Go Devils. In some places, what I know as a buck rake was called a Go Devil.

Much clearer picture Tractor Hank. It is what I know as a Go Devil. My Grandpa planted corn and cotton on lister ridges. I think he ran the middles with a riding cultivator when the plants were about 6 inches tall and then used the Go Devil to throw dirt back to the plants. I know it took a good space to turn it at the end of the rows. I think they were used in the 1800's but yours probably isn't that old. I'm sure you had to pay enough attention to what you were doing that you couldn't watch those mules wink at you.

It is a Go Devil used to cultivate listed corn. One row at a time.

with the high archs of the metal it was made to pass over a tall crop such as corn. i think it was made to pick the leaves of the stalks up to keep them from being covered up when the corn was "laid-by". of course i use to think my wife was pretty to. so what do i know.

Me thinks it is just a plane old corn cultivator. Set to "throw in" I use to play on a wood skid thing like that that had the disks and a few more cultivator things.

I've never seen anything like that before but it looks like what is called a diker here in east Idaho, it is used to make small ridges in a field so that it could be flood irrigated. would probably require several passes so the planks would be used as guides to keep it lined up on the dike
