Vermeer 605h, new lacings getting torn out...need

I put in new splices and lacings in accordance with Hay DR's advice to get the belts back to factory spec length, I noticed last night after maybe 5 bales that on the outside end of one of the wide belts the lacing is getting torn apart, I looked at the belt guides ( round pipe looking things in a couple spots on each side of the belt path ) and they are grooved...are those grooves grabbing the lacings and ripping them out?

What's the best repair, get new pieces of pipe to replace them, weld and grind them smooth, etc?

Like most others said, replace the guides. Also make sure your cable of the slices do not extend past the edge of the belt.

My H does the same thing. Turn guide pipes or replace them it really helps the laces last longer. The water pipe wears pretty fast but it's cheep. PK

Just use some water pipe and replace the worn guides. You can turn the guide 90 degree but the water pipe is not expensive.

Not familiar with the H but if it is like the F series you can get a piece of pipe and just replace them. Very easy to do or if they are only grooved on one side then you can turn them 90 degrees and they will last a while longer. Mine were so bad when I changed them they had rubbed a hole in some of them.
Liek said not sure if H like F but check on bottom as there be some guides there too

You also might try installing some "Smart locks". Clipper makes them, they keep the outside of the lace from getting torn up.

One thing you can do is loosen the bolts and give the tubes a quarter turn. Check your belt tracking to be sure they are not constantly running to one side. I found with mine that one of the hardest things on them is a bale too big one one side forcing the belts over and getting them to partially roll over. This was when the bale was small and it was easy to get a cone shaped bale.
