HESSTON. From what I've seen, no other brand even comes close to Hesston. The basic Hesston design is used for both small and big square balers. After running a hesston big square baler, if I ever buy another small baler it will be a Hesston. I have a NH 273. NH is a decent baler. NH hay machinery all has the same basic problems. It tends to be built lighter than Hesston, is too complicated, and so it cost more to fix. One gripe with Nh balers is that NH trys to sell you a whole new wiper arm because the idiots rivet on the knife instead of bolting. NH designs machinery to sell replacement parts. It does work well however. I'm not a fan of the auger feed on deeres. It seems a little rough on hay, but have never ran one, just heard what the neighbors say. There are a lot of 30+ year old NH and Deere balers still running. In your 20 year old range, you could get a 4600 Hesston.
