MF41 dynabalance mower

First, thanks for all the help getting the mower adjusted. A big hammer adjustment to the hold down clips improved mowing considerably.

Cuts much better ..but.

Now, occassionally, I am getting a big (wad) pile of hay out on the end of the sickle, when mowing very heavy grass hay. I have a 2 steel rod grass board. Any suggestions appreciated.

I agree with the man who suggested a section and a half on the end. They are available at tsc or rural king or most places that have sections. A good sharp
sickle and a little bit of tender loving care with a whole lot of mental patience it what it takes to make a sickle bar mower work.

Check if your outer sections are sharp, tight and secure (not loose)and set close to ledgers that are in good condition with sharp edges (not smoothed over). Is it a 1 1/2 section on outer end? The outer end of bar should be positioned slightly ahead forward. Sometimes these problems can be fixed by adjusting tractor speed (sometimes more speed is better in grass), bar forward position adjustments, and horizontal angle of bar cut by adjusting top link. It takes some time to figure out best combination of tractor speed and other adjustments on a sickle bar for your specific crop. Underserrated sections usually better in orchard grass and fescue in my neck of the woods.

If you're talking about hay hanging up on the swath board, just bend the rods to a slightly less angle.

You can try a fast jerk to the left, that makes the outer end of the bar do a slight arc, lots of times that will clear it.

The end guard isn't against the end knife.

Sometimes a section and a half is used on the end to cut down on that plugging. But in my mower conditioner the problem was that the end guard wasn't aligned right.
