Found an old JD LR 2 5wheel today. Bought it right but it is missing the adjusting link on the front. Fellow told me he always used a 1 inch turnbuckle, I have only seen one other and it had a hydralic cylinder on it. Anyone know what is original? Tried JD parts but couldn't find the old rake on it. Thanks, Bob

Just went back and read some old discussion on the LR 2. Seems most opinons were that there was no such thing. Say it must be a 858. Mine is rubber tires, 5 bar. Gear case. Its in good condition except for the missing adjusting link. The brass tag says LR 2 (5) 15476. The 5 in () is hand stamped, I assume becasue it was assembled as a 5 bar rake. Information on this would be welcome, so would good pictures of original paint scheme. Bob

That number of the cage always throws you off. I think the adjusting link was meant to be a cylinder, would have to be long, or a ratchet jack or hydraulic jack. You might want to get an operator's manuel at least from JD and parts book helps too. Not that expensive. I have one of these but mine was altered to be sued on a tractor 3 point with hitch bar and is raised and lowered that way. Mine is a 4 bar and was all green with yellow wheels. Later ones had the carrier "yoke" painted yellow.
