I have a friend who just bought a used 10 foot disc bine The paint was hardley worn off, I can see why it is a no hay cutting piece of junk, Is it us or are these machines worthless? My self I am now mowing with my old number 5 sickle and doing fine, that is until I finish in the middle, then that is a sight to behold. Any advice on the bine or the correct way to finish a middle out in a hay field would be appreciated.

What problems is he having with the Hesston? Hesston is a very well respected brand in the discbine industry and if he's having problems with it something's gotta be wrong. This is our 6th year running disc machines and as much as I like raising hay I'd give it up if I had to go back to a sickle mower.

When he gets it tight enough to crimp, it will not flow out the back of the machine properly, its about an eight year old machine, I know that technowledgy has changed a bunch since then.

Something really must be out of adjustment. I just bought a 20 year-old discbine (New Idea) to replace a 30 year old haybine (IH), and even technology that old is impressively faster. An 8 year old machine ought to be amazing. Does he have the manual? I've found that manufacturers still have manuals at reasonable prices, and many of the adjustments were not what I would have guessed if I hadn't read the manual. And again all my equipment is old enough to vote (or run for Prez :-)
