Do your bales want to hang together on the pickup side? If so you have too much clearance between the plunger knife and stationary knife and it pulls the hay to that side instead of cutting it off clean, the wood rails on the plunger may need replaced.

It is sounding like a balecase feed issue. The hay could be pushing too far into the balecase to form an even flake when the plunger makes a compression stroke. Adjustment can be opposite of what you think it should be. On my 278 New Holland you move the feed tines away from the balecase to move the hay further into the balecase. They need to pick up a "bigger charge" to properly fill the balecase. Took me a long time to grasp that concept. Lots of "discussion" with the dealer's service department. Can also be caused by really small windrows or windrows that are inconsistant.

You have banna bales, not gitting enough hay in
the chamber. Either rake larger windrows or
drive faster. Also could be that your wadboard
is pushing the hay in too far. Check that the chanes are right.
