Hello . Sorry to bother you all out there but need some information on the Bamford BL 58 baler . I have an old toy Britains one which I am going to give a revamp . As I have not managed to gind a real one , picture or otherwise it could be problem . First is a mtter of the PTO shaft . Does anybody know if did it have just one single , or two with the small one at the front and the loneger one following on behind ? Also while on the subject was it the biggest in that sireis ? Also as it is known Banford ended up being part of the same company as Jones and as it was it was the same products just in different liveries . Two points . was only in the Jones days that Bamfords became red ? And also was the waht was yellow the Banford BL 58 ever done in the jones livery whic was red and a blive an eather off white or cream livery . For what I ahve ever seen of Jones they just had a bit more white than Bamford did . Any responses will be welcomed , Thanks David

It had a 2 piece shaft. There was a BL59 as well, I think that was the last of the true Bamfords. The eary Jones balers were blue, they then later went red/white. All the proper bamfords were Bamford yellow/blue. The final throw of Bamfords was the mreger (takeover?) of Jones, and also the British built Allis-Chalmers baler, that is when they went to red colour, and ended up tied up somehow with the large dealer chain of F.H.Burgess whose head office at that time was in Wolverhamton Road, Stafford. The old Bamford works in Utoxetter is now a J.C.B. factory, I don't know what happend to the old Jones plant in Wales or the old Allis Chalmers plant at Essendine near Stamford.
