1960's Massey Ferguson Hay Conditioner

I have a MF hay condtioner with a steel bottom roll and a rubber upper roll. Hay will wrap on the top roller if you get slightly off the swath. There are factory guards on each end of the roll but don't doo the job. Has anyone else had this problem or ideas to fix the problem.

No experience with MF Conditioner, but my Cunningham would wrap up royally on the lower roll as soon as the right side bearing on that lower roll started to go. It was the end opposite the chain drive, got hay into the bearing frequently (cover plate was rusted out). That beast has two steel crimping rolls.
