Got the problem sorted out today. Apparently someone along the line rearranged the shims that hold the idler wheels in place on the bolts. By shifting some around I was able to line up the idlers with the drive sprocket. Put on a new chain while I was at it. I've got 10 acres to cut this weekend, so we'll see then. Should be good to go. As far as the bearing job goes, it wasn't too bad, but a few tools will make it simpler. A slide hammer to remove the wedge pin from sprocket worked real well. Tap the sprocket toward the roller to loosen it, but a slide hammer clamped to it with a pair of vice grips made quick work of pulling it out. Had to heat the heck out of the sprocket with an acetylene torch to get it to come off the roller shaft. You'll also need a good two jaw puller. Apparently some metal got galled underneath mine and held her on there pretty good. You'll need the torch to cut off the old bearing anyway. No way to do it otherwise, because you can't get a puller on it and there's not a whole lot of room to work. So, line up a good puller, a cutting torch and a slide hammer and it should take you about 4 hours total. Bearing, collar, shroud and flanges cost me about $75 from New Holland dealer. $50 was for the bearing itself. I don't suppose you have any experience changing the inner gearbox seal on this thing? Mine's leaking like a seive. There are four bolts that hold the gearbox onto the plate. I'm hoping that it can be done that way, by removing shaft bolt and gears, rather than removing the whole shaft, overrunning clutch and such.
