We got an old McCormick big 6 mower (horse drawn) that we plan to hook behind our Massey tractor but there are some parts missing.

I am not very knowledgeable about this stuff so if I could get some help identifying what I need to get it working.

Looks like I have half the pitman arm. It is attached to the drive area but then is broken off after that and doesn't go to the mowing arm.
Also as you see there are no teeth or bar for them.

Can anyone see what I have and tell me what I need to get... and hopefully where?

My link goes to a page with the photos....

Thanks a lot,
Mike

P.S.
Anyone know of a diagram anywhere that shows the parts that make up a mower like this?

I put new photos up at the link below.
The bar is 78 inches from outer edge to outer edge so I guess that is really 6 foot cutter?

$500? Doesn't that sound a bit steep, seeing I only paid about $100 for it.

Please let me know,
I think I am missing the following,
1) The pitman arm (which I can make myself)
2) irons for the end of the pitman arm (end on the side that connects to the sickle bar)
3) the sickle bar
4) knives

I am not trying to "restore" it I just want it to work.

Can anyone tell me what this part is (see photo). I kind of think it is the irons that connect the pitman arm to the sickle bar but I dont know.

Email me- I have most of the parts or can help you find them -New. I may have a new pitman with the iron ends (never used). I bought out the stock from an old hardware store back in 1980. I got mostly pitmans for John Deere mowers. Also the moldboard for the end of the cutting bar, -you have a tin piece hanging there. I think I still have one new one. Measure the cutting bar -is it 6ft or 7ft? I have some cycles but most are 5ft. My neighbor bought a new 7ft cycle for his at Mills Fleet or Tractor Supply. It fit just fine, but was for a Ford tractor mower. It may cost about $100 to get it working or more if you want it working like new. Then you may want to replace all the rock guards and plates on the cutting bar, but I'd try it first with the parts that you need to get it running. Do the gears turn OK? No need to rush into parts if the main shaft is stuck -fix that first. I had 15 horse mowers at one time. Now I'm selling my collection of horse machinery. Had arround 50 pieces at one time. My favorite is the horse drawn hay tedder. I think that I still have 9 of them along with several cultivators and sulky plows. Glad to hear you are saving the old machinery. -alot of it went for scrap in the 1980's

Without beeing able to see all your pictures I would say that you are looking at a $500 rebuild for all the parts that I see you are needing. I do have a parts book on it but I don't think it would pay me to hunt it up. And I do have a McC. No. 4, Big 4, Big 6 and No. 7. Cheapest way would be able to find a No. 27 tractor semi mount mower for parts.
