Anyone know of aftermarket spoons to replace my worn ones? I read somewhere about HO-Bit, but can't locate. Thanks, Scottnj

Thanks for the replies fellows. OK, I'll rephrase the question. Anyone know of an aftermarket seller of wheels for my JD Rotary hoe?

I think the HO bits were wider than new wheels and so where extra agressive but they don't seem to be made anymore.

Shoup www.shoupparts.com has wheels. You might find them at Deere on sale sometimes too. Or you might find some not too badly worn on a complete hoe at a farm sale since they aren't nearly as popular as they once were.

How old of JD rotary hoe? I have a parted out "gang style" JD rotary hoe with round holes in the center, not a bearing. May turn them into sunflower "yard art" but that will be a lot of sunflowers.

My understanding is the whole wheels became cheaper than a wheel's worth of tips - never mind the time & rod to weld them.

So, no one is selling the tips any more.

Just what I hear.

Scott: The last time I replaced mine, John deere were having a winter special on complete wheels. It was a few years back, thus I don't remember the exact price. I calculated at the time, I'd be making less than $0.20 per hour changing spoons. Besides the bearings in mine were in worse shape than spoons.

Used to be, seems to have retired or died and no one has taken up the market. Takes the spoons and the jig. The only chance is to find some that were bought and never applied.

With all the work, some would rather buy new assemblies, I guess.

Shoup used to sell them too.
