My McCormick #8 2 bottom clutch lift (trip) plow has a problem. First, the trip lever spring broke and I replaced that. Then the plow started doing the "Chester" limping across the field raising the plow and then dropping it. At times the wheel with the clutch does not turn, it skids. And sometimes it just launches the spring out into the field. I've got the manual but it's not much help for this IH rookie. Any help greatly appreciated.

Do you have the right spring? It might not be strong enough to reset the mechanism.

Same for all makes and models of implement clutches. Take apart and clean out all the old dirt and grease, will be suprised at what is in there and then regrease but not on the catch part of the clutch as that is supposed to stay clean and dry. If upon cleaning you might find something is broke but not likely.
