I just used a wire brush & sander to clean and shine rusty parts for an old implement. I am told there is a product (other than paint) that will seal the metal and prevent rust. Is this true? If so, what is the product? Thanks

any household paint dealer should have OSPHO in stock or its equivilant...its a phosphate coating that kills rust as well as seals metal...i've used it for over 40 years with good results and its a damn site cheaper than that fancy stuff in eastwood catalog.

Gimplers sells something called Rust Converter. I use it in my old manure spreader. It sure stopped the rust.

I had a guy call me about two months ago trying to sell me some. I don,t remember the name, it was to high for my budget. He was a real talker though, just kept giving me a better deal. Claimed it was miracle stuff. I have heard that it works well enough, but never tried it. If you try it let us know how good or bad.

Eastwood automotive has something called rust encapsulator.
I have never used it so I am not sure how well it works.

No myth. Lots of products out there that will do it. Most all of them contain phosphoric acid in some form or another---one of the ingredients in Coca Cola.
