I just bought a MF Model 31 sickle mower today to replace my NI Model 30.

Where can I go for manual? Will check with my MF dealer, but thought somebody here might help. Anybody point me to online info or pictures?

Start trying to set up bar and learn a little about it tomorrow.

Thanks!

Just a wrap up on this in case anybody's still checking...a bit hard to find a belt. My dealer was back ordered to July. He gave me three out-of-state dealers that had them in stock. The guy I bought it from suggested NAPA and I got one from them, but even there they had to overnight order it out of Spokane. Took some time to figure out how to shorten the pulley-to-pulley distance to get the new one on since I don't have a manual yet, but got that. The yoke on the u-joint on the mower had been cracked and broke the first time I tried it, so returned it to the seller and he replaced it no-charge. So, finally had it ready to go yesterday around noon. Worked great! Spent the rest of the afternoon mowing and learning it's sounds and characteristics. Still have some questions, but will hold off posting them until I get the manual, which should answer them.

Thanks for your replies.

Thanks...y'all have given me a little more confidence that maybe this wasn't a mistake. I'm guessing that the bar will need a good bit of work. There's some slop in it and I'll have to set hold downs and tighten the knife clearance for starters.

I've seen posts regarding dyna balance, so have some idea what you're talking about, but without a manual, don't even know where to look. Hopefully will know more today as I start working on it. Any chance either of you might snap and post a digital photo or two, or scan a page or two from the manual and post, of the most important parts? I know that's asking a lot, so understand if not - especially on a holiday! :)

Dealer probably won't be open today, but will check with him tomorrow and get a new belt while I'm at it.

Thanks again for your replies.

Chuck, Yes the 31 is an excellent mower. Follow
the greasing instructions from the manual and
from the plate on the dyna balance unit. It is
imperitive that you do NOT grease the balanced
unit too often. If you overgrease you will have
seals out and you will be overhauling. I have an
original used manual if this site or MF don't
have. $12 plus 2.50 postage. Chuck

Chuck...thanks for the offer. Had to call Agco for a replacement belt for the mower and asked about the manual. He ordered one for me, so that's taken care of.

These are good mowers, got my manual from the MF dealer. Just do consistent greasing to protect the gearbox. Fairly easy to adjust and operate.
