How much should I expect to have to pay this sat at a consignment auction for this post hole digger. It is a Twin - Drolic Inc. Made in Laurens, Iowa to fit the older Fords and has a model no. AC-E and serial no. 57-0354 and has a 10" auger about 36-40" long. it looks to be in good shape just needing a couple of bolts. The unit is in northwest Ohio. I have never seen a post hole digger at auction but I need to dig about 10 holes in the next month so I have a need for it and cannot wait to find anouther unit or will have to try to rent one. I do have the tractor it is made to fit.

Bought a homemade one at auction for 125.00 and have seen the real deal go for 175-400. Depends how bad the other fella wants it! I got lucky! The thing I bought is an old rear end that somebody put together, has a 12" auger and has worked great the 12 or so times I've used it.

We have an old post hole digger made for the older Ford tractors. Don't know the name, but it's painted a darker yellow which may have been affected by aging and exposure to grease. It has a second set of arms which attach to brackets under the axle, which I my guess is to keep it digging perpendicular without moving the tractor. It was such a pain to attach to the tractor, that Dad only used it a couple of times when we had quite a few holes to dig, which was more than 40 years ago. However, I don't believe we had to reposition the tractor when digging an individual hole. If this is similar to what you are looking at, be sure to get the brackets. Dad let somoneone borrow it many years ago, and didn't get it back until this person sold out. Unfortunately that person forgot to remove and return the brackets before he sold the tractor it was used on.

This unit is red and uses the standard stabilizer brackets that I have on the tractor and the lift arms to the frame of the digger, no top link, probably hasen't been used for some time as rust on the auger but dosen't look to be worn or broken, Just somebody that no longer had a tractor it would fit and no longer any need for a fence. Got a building to build.

Fleet farm has them for $350

If a digger is at an auction, it probably is shelled out with the cob broken in two.

Make sure the thing can turn. Gearbox is more money than whole digger is at Fleet Farm.

Gearbox seems to turn as it should. Have no idea where those stors are. TSC has this week on sale at about $520 for unit, too much for me and too much for the small Fords
