Offset Hillers

A guy I work with pick up a set of offset hillers last weekend at an estate auction for 10 dollars. There were a set of "fenders" sitting with the hillers and got them also. What I was wondering was were these used behind the straight hillers to pull more dirt. There is an IH on these but maybe they weren't meant for a Super A. I put them in the front but they stick up too far and just about hit the oil pan. I could cut them off I guess but maybe put them back futher. What do yaw think?

They are probly a #21 as shown in the 144 cultivator manual. Go the the post below and see if yours are the same as Kieth posted in his pic. His are a #21. Will work on a Super A or 140 and I think others.

I have the straight shank kind, the #22. They both work on the front tool bar. Since I have never used the #21's I dont know what an advantage or disavantage there would be. Guess its kind of like haveing cultivator shanks that are offset, just another option.

I also have a set of hillers that were made by welding a differant shank on the set. It has three of the hiller plates on each set and each plate is a differant size starting with big ones on the outside and getting smaler as you go in. Almost looks like a small disk. My uncle sure could lay off a good bed for planting with those things.

Ment to add.

They werent used together. Use either the straight ones or the offset. They mount in the same place. Yea, I could see where you might hit the oil pan if you mounted them in the back tool bar. I have the optional bar that points to the left on my left hand side and the cultivator shank hits the oil pan if you dont have things set right.
