I am interested in the chain balers. What are the differences between the 848 and the 849. I know the 848 had the air bags, but I dont know about the 849. I watched a guy bale with an 849 yesterday and the bales looked good. I dont know about the density of the bale, but the appearance was good. They look to be well built machines. Thanks in advance.

I've got an 849 and it is just a super baler.

The 849 uses four heavy springs per side for bale compression whereas the 848 uses the air bags, I believe. They also use the floor roller instead of floor chains.

All in all, just a smaller version of the Grandaddy of 'em all, the 855.

If I had to fault it, the only thing I can think of is that it only has a 5' pickup instead of the 6' like the bigger 855 chain baler. Allan
